MILENA SANTIAGO FROM UDG ENDS HER SECONDMENT AT EKOSOS

July 2016

The researcher Milena Santiago, from UdG, concluded her stay in Quito, Ecuador. Milena stayed from May to July in Ekosos, for two months.

During the two months that Milena was in Ecuador, Peter Hofmann from IDMT did his secondment as well for 20 days. Together they worked in the approach of two proposals integrating the five previously raised, with the aim of having one model focusing on the health and health care sector and the other one on the tourism sector.

Secondments to EKOSOS

June 2016 Milena Santiago form UdG and Peter Hofmann IDMT are carrying out their secondment of research in Ekosos (Quito, Ecuador) with the collaboration of Javier Felix from Ekosos. The work developed in Ekosos aims to build guidelines for developing sustainable business models based on the use of virtual and complementary applied to health and tourism sectors. The work doing by the researchers has been focused in the analysis of the previous draft models in order to develop a complementary analysis and later being able to create practical and applicable guidelines within a general environment of South America, directly related to the economic and socio-cultural reality of South America, specially Ecuador and Colombia.

Ekosos secondments

Daniel Tito Moscoso (Ekosos´ Advisory Manager) participated in a first secondment to Fraunhofer IDMT during the period comprehended between 27.07 and 09.10.2015. His collaboration as a junior researcher of Vircoin2SME project was focused in the design and development of 3 - 4 different business model schemes for promoting socioeconomic development in SME networks related to health and tourism sector within a virtual approach.

MILENA SANTIAGO FROM UDG ENDS HER SECONDMENT AT RES




After two months of stay Milena Santiago completed her secondment at RES (Belgium) and she shared her comments about this experience:

“Since the beginning I had the collaboration of all members at RES, they were very helpful with all my concerns and doubts. The study of RES in-situ gave the opportunity to fully understand the way a complementary currency works, and all the aspects behind it to make it successfully. Studying RES, gave me the opportunity to realize that developing a social/complementary currency could be useful when looking for helping local communities in need to improve their current situation through sustainable development initiatives”.

New secondments to RES

Milena Santiago and Paulo Carrillo from UdG, and Clara Inés Peña de Carrillo from UNAB are carrying out their secondment of research in RES, Belgium.

This work aims to analyze the behavior of Belgian users (businesses, consumers and the currency administrators) in relation to the use of the RES social complementary currency in order to measure the level of existence of the already identified barriers for the adoption of social complementary currencies and to propose mechanisms to reduce these barriers and thus contribute to the development of sustainable business models based on social complementary or virtual currencies applied to health and tourism sectors.

ONGOING SECONDMENT OF VIRCOIN2SME: PAULO CARRILLO IN UNAB

The secondment from UdG to UNAB is currently taking place from January to March 2016. In this case, Paulo Carrillo is working as a junior researcher in UNAB, Colombia.

The aim of this secondment is to allow Paulo to share his knowledge and develop its ongoing thesis titled “Common Environment to Validate Virtual Complementary Currencies” in the context of Vircoin2SME project.

This secondment is part of a series of exchanges of the project which is designed to allow researchers to share their knowledge and put it together to develop new and better models powered by complementary currencies.

Secondments based on the exchange of knowledge and cooperative collaboration

Digital social innovation generates a positive ecosystem where business and social development enabled with new behaviors boosted by social, complementary or community currencies deployed as virtual currencies have a great potential for competitiveness, and entrepreneurship, but also for fostering social responsibility in Europe.

The project has implemented different secondments among all the partners, involving 10 people and including the following exchanges: UdG to EKOSOS, IDMT to EASY, IDMT to EKOSOS, EKOSOS to IDMT, EASY to UNAB, UNAB to EASY, RES to UdG.
